In Retrospect

2008 was a big year for me. A lot has happened; it's been a year of firsts and a year of changes. It seems to be a time of reflection right now, for assessing recent circumstances & moving forward with higher expectations. Although some great things happened this year, the negative things are those that occupy my mind, nagging me on a daily basis. Hopefully this next year will be one of renewal for me personally, to get in order the bits & pieces that have been scattered.

My big events of 2008:
-Met boyfriend under peculiar circumstances: at a sold-out concert that I attended alone, ticketless & completely by chance, on Leap Day
-Boyfriend moved in; first time living with significant other
-Had my wisdom teeth pulled
-Was laid-off from my job of 3 years (first time) - still unemployed with no clue what to do
-Got in car accident; my car of 6 years was totaled - still car-less
-Went to Hawaii (haven't vacationed much in the past 3 years, so that was big)
-Visited wine country for the first time (mini vacation)
-Saw 2 of my favorite musicians for the first & maybe only time in concert: Van Morrison & Radiohead
-Dad began building, finished, & moved into his dream home
-Sister became pregnant with her first child
-Visited Washington DC for the first time

Okay, after typing this list, I realize I definitely had a lot of good things going on. But being jobless & without car, life seems a little daunting (given the economy & LA's poor public transportation). Oh well, onwards & upwards, let's start anew, roll up those sleeves, get to work & all that good stuff.
